Arts & Crafts Copper Processional Cross, a very rare item to find may have been commissioned by the ASC but may have already existed we cannot be sure but was presented, by the officers mess of the army service corps Chatham to St Johns Chatham Xmas 1917. the cross made of hammered copper with a silver centre panel finely tooled with latin inscription twin serpents in the centre and inscibed st joanne at the top, all 4 ends of the cross have ruskin high fired roundels. The whole cross is edged with fine copper ropework. It is truly Magnificent cross mounted on an ebonised staff with 2 copper sleeves, one halfway down with a silver dedication shield and one at the bottom to protect the base. The 2 silver elements are not hallmarked.
