Art Nouveau Silver Rimmed Glass Bowl, Webster Co.
Here we have a very elegant American Art Nouveau glass bowl with a Sterling Silver rim. The bowl has a swirling rib pattern all the way round and the silver rim is decorated with a flowing leaf and berry pattern. The silver rim is quite substantial, extending over a centimetre out beyond the glass bowl.
The bowl is made in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA by the Webster Company and dates to between around 1900 and 1920. The Webster Company was founded by George K. Webster in 1869 and produced a lot of silverware for the table. They were finally bought out by Reed & Barton in 1950.
Condition of the bowl is very good with no chips or cracks to the glass and just one very small ding on the underside of the rim where it attaches to the glass. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bowl is 15cm / 5.9ins in diameter across the top and stands 3.2cm / 1.25ins high. It weighs 204.2g / 7.2oz.
The side of the rim where it attaches to the glass is marked STERLING and has the W Co with an arrow through it makers\' mark for the Webster Company plus the product number 6502.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
