Art Deco Silver Salad Servers, Hukin & Heath, 1931
Here we have a top quality Art Deco set of Sterling Silver Salad Servers from the 1930s. Both spoon and fork have round bowls and long slender stems with an upturned end, displaying the clean lines and effortless style of the Art Deco era.
The set is made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths Hukin & Heath and dates to 1931. Founded by Jonathan Hukin and John Heath in 1855, the firm is best known for their association with Dr Christopher Dresser, who designed extraordinary pieces for them in the 1870s and 1880s. In the 20th century they remained at the forefront of contemporary design and supplied many of the high end department stores and silver retailers.
Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents and only the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after 90 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salad servers are each 24.7cm / 9.7ins long and the pair together weigh in at a very substantial 124.0g / 4.37oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter G for 1931 and the H & H in circles makers' mark for Hukin & Heath Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the salad servers.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
