This is an antique telescope, a single draw refractor for terrestrial or astronomical use. An English, 'Officer of the Watch' telescope dating to the early 20th century.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky. Supplied ready to enjoy.

A. Franks Ltd was an Optician and Instrument Maker
(1879 - 1950)
Founded in the latter part of the 19th century by Louis Aubrey Franks (b.1854), they traded originally as 'L.A.Franks' from 95 Deansgate and later 2-4 King Street, Manchester. Listed as a manufacturer of photographic apparatus, optician and scientific instrument maker.
Following a bankruptcy in 1879, a new firm was formed soon after, an optician trading as A. Franks. Another partnership between Aubrey and Benjamin Franks was also dissolved in 1897.
A Franks would continue to trade until 1950 from various addresses including 2 King Street, 44 Market Street and branches in the 1920s at 73 Oxford Street, 44 Market Street, 12 Victoria Street, 3 South King Street and 20 Bradshaw Gate.
