Antique Silver Box PAUL TALLOIS 1900s
The most exquisitely beautiful fully hallmarked antique .950 high grade silver antique jewellery / jewelry / cigarette / cigar box in excellent condition. Usually these are quite plain but this one is superbly decorated. Set within an elaborate design of scroll work is the most romantic scene. A lady with her beau, who is declaring his love for her. The engraving is finely detailed & so complex. So fine is the work that even the expressions on the faces of the courting couple can be seen, the garments, architecture, floral motifs & vegetation are perfectly portrayed. Each side has repousse scroll work & floral motifs. This is the perfect antique to adorn either a lady's dressing table or a gentleman's office desk. It is large enough for jewellery / jewelry, cigarettes or cigars. The interior is lined with cedar wood & the whole piece is in excellent condition. There aren't any dings. On the base the maker's mark 'Am. TALLOIS PARIS' 'une couronne' (a crown) - that of the renowned Paul Tallois, who was active from 1907 - 1928.
The sterling silver vintage cigarette box measures 13 cm X 9.5 cm X 4.5 cm & weighs 322.3 grams.
