This is an antique maritime telescope. An English, brass and walnut mounted ship's instrument by J. Sewill, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife stalking, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.
Fascinating maritime focused telescope with superb stand and of renowned manufacture
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Brass presents warm golden hues, the primary barrel dressed in a quality faux crocodile finish
Walnut stand presents fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Of good size, the single draw scope pulls smoothly to its extent
Clear, bright objective element with a diameter of 45mm (1.75'')
Engraved to the draw tube, lightly polished but mostly legible

Pull forward sun shade covers the element from direct sunshine
Turned eye cup to the rear with inset sliding dust cover
