This is an antique library telescope. An English, brass astronomical mounted refractor by Dollond of London, dating to Victorian period, circa 1880.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife stalking, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.
Striking library telescope on a folding stand, closing down into a carry case
Displays a desirable aged patina and presented in original order
Primary barrel lightly time worn, commensurate with age and enthusiastic use
Striking brass brightwork presents warm golden tones
Skilfully crafted by the renowned specialist Dollond of London
Three piece draw tube extends smoothly, focused by knurled wheel moving an internal rack and pinion
Attaches to the elegant tripod stand with two brass turn screws
Articulated upon the stand for rotation, and up and down adjustments
The whole stands steadfast upon a trio of folding slipper feet
Maker's mark engraved to the trailing edge of the primary tube ahead of the draw tube
Folds neatly away into a quality carry case for storage or use in the field
Case held securely with a pair of sliding brass clasps
