Antique Georgian Style Silver Salt Cauldron 1899
Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to present for sale this good quality Victorian period handmade silver salt cellar of cauldron form.
This superb quality salt cellar is in the George II/ III period examples produced during the mid to late 18th Century, it sits on three hoof feet and has a plain rounded body with wavy gadrooned border.
This Cauldron is possibly an 18th Century example with later applied assay marks. There are only two visible letters evident on the makers mark stamp, which matches that of Samuel Herbert Co who were active between 1750 to 1786 and does not appear match any sponsor mark or any contemporary assay marks.
A highly displayable and attractive piece of antique silver tableware, which would make a sustainable gift or addition to any quality silverware collection. This impressive salt cellar can be used for entertaining at dinner parties and luncheons, as well as at hotels and in restaurants.
