Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this complete set of superb quality hand made late Victorian hallmarked silver Apostle spoons and matching tongs.
Each of these fine quality spoon has a simple plain column handle with rat tail and is topped with a figure of the apostle St James The Greater.
The details are:
Silversmiths: John Aldwinckle & James Slater (additional mark for retailer plus a possible journeyman mark)
Date mark: 1887 & 1888
Assay office: London
Dimensions:
Length: 10 cm
Width of bowl: 2.5 cm
Length of tongs: 10 cm
Combined weight: 90 grams

Condition Report
The spoons:
In overall excellent condition for their 134 year age, with surface scratches and tarnish marks consistent with age, however no dents or significant wear.
The box:
The original fitted box is overall good condition with a lovely purple velvet and satin interior and a good clasp, there is noticeable wear to the base of the box and general age related wear all round, also the tongs will not always sit in there holder.
