5 x Victorian Silver Buttons, Thomas White, 1899
This is a stylish set of five Victorian Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Buttons. The buttons have a pierced flower design on the front inside a dimpled ring. The backs have a simple loop for attaching them to the garment. These would add a real touch of elegance to any outfit.
The buttons are made in London by silversmith and jeweller Thomas White and date to 1899. Thomas White registered his mark at Goldsmith's Hall in 1887 and is best known for his good quality silver buttons, mostly in the Art Nouveau style. In remained in business into the early 1900s.
Condition is very good with no dings, dents or damage, just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after this period of time. The fixing loops on the backs are all nice and secure. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The buttons are each 1.7cm in diameter and the set of five together werighs in at 9.3g of solid Sterling Silver.
As is generally the case, one button has a full set of hallmarks with partial hallmarks on the rest of the set. The full set has the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter d for 1899 and the T W in a diamond makers' mark for Thomas White.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the buttons.
