2 x Edwardian Silver Candlesticks, Levi & Salaman
This is a smart Pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Candlesticks. The candlesticks have circular bases, weighted for stability, with line decoration on the top. Tapering stems rise to line decorated knops and urn shaped sconces above these. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The candlesticks were made in Birmingham by Levi & Salaman and date to 1908. Founded by Phineas Levi and Joseph Salaman in 1870, Levi & Salaman quickly established a reputation for high quality silverware and remained in business for fifty years until they were merged into Barker Brothers in 1921, with the brand name continuing on through the twenties.
Condition is good, with just a few little dings around the bases and the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 115 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each candlestick is 12.6cm / 4.96ins high and 7.3cm / 2.87ins in diameter. The pair together weigh in at 262g / 9.24oz but this does of course include the weighting material in the bases.
The hallmarks, on the tops of the bases, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter II for 1908 and the L & S makers' mark for Levi & Salaman.
Shipping in the UK is £11 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the candlesticks.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
