Pair of Clark & Sewell Silver Candlesticks
This lovely pair of tall candlesticks have an elegant tapering design and terminate in shaped square bases. They are hallmarked, but please note that the hallmarks are badly rubbed. It is possible to see they were assayed in Chester and the maker's stamp appears to be Clark & Sewell (a manufaturer registered in 1906) but it is not possible to identify the letter cypher. The candlesticks are weighted so it is not possible to determine the silver weight.
Condition Overall in fair condition, and although they are usuable they would benefit from some restoration. As is mentioned above the marks are badly rubbed and barely identifiable. There are various knocks, scratches and dents all over and some small areas where the silver is thinned and splitting. There are some black marks and pitting. The tops are badly knocked around the edges. One of the candlesticks has a crease around the outer edge of the bowl.
The approx. measurements are as follows
30cm high
Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
