General service medal with Cyprus bar

The General Service Medal was institued in 1918 to recognise minor Army or Air Force operations, which do not earn any other specific medal.
The obverse shows the Monarch's head, the reverse shows the figure of Victory (aka Victoria Roman goddess of victory) carrying a trident, and bestowing a wreath on the emblems of the army and the air force (sword and wings).
There are then seventeen different bars possible, each of which identify the particular operation for which this medal is being awarded.
This specific medal carries the Cyprus bar.
To earn this medal the recipient had to have served against the guerilla organisation EOKA, led by General George Grivas, whilst stationed on the island. This guerilla conflict lasted for over four years between 1958 and 1962.
The medal, as named on the edge, was issued to "23504634 CF R.G.Beech R.E.M.E." (a Craftsman with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers).
The medal bears the head of Queen Elizabeth II).
The medal is full size, and measures approximately 3.5 cm (1.5") in diameter.
