French heavy cavalry troopers sword model 1790. Heavy three bar brass hilt, wood covered leather grip brass wire bound . Single edged heavy blade no fullers flat, typical of these early French swords very sturdy. movement in the brass hilt but blade firm in grip blade with dark age patina wear to guard dents cuts and bruises consistent with a fighting sword that’s Unlike the later French cavalry swords all these are slightly different but of the same style. To use the expression this one has been through the wars all the way to Waterloo and beyond. A rare weapon.
