A Distinctively Carved 17th Century French Oak Coffer.

This lovely coffer is of useful size and has a lovely surface and patination. With a planked top and standing on a carved plinth base, with carving to the front with a repeating geometric pattern. The construction of the piece consists of interlocking mortise and tenon joints to the sides, an interesting example of the French coffer maker's art.
