Here is an example of an unusual but very good quality antique Victorian elm chest of drawers, circa 1850 - 1870.

Here is an example of an unusual but very good quality antique Victorian elm chest of drawers, circa 1850 - 1870. The top of the chest features an elm top with moulded front and sides. Below, there are three working graduated line lined drawers, which features the original working locks and a working key. The chest boasts reeding to the perimeter of the drawer fronts (sign of good quality). The drawers are constructed of pine this is typical for a country chest of this type. The chest sits on the original bracket feet and in between there is a very pretty shaped frieze. The backs of the chest feature pine back boards. The chest is constructed of solid elm, which is rare to see in Victorian chests, as country chests are usually made of pine.
This chest would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hall way or the bedroom. This chest would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report
This chest is in excellent original condition and is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and sides but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chest boasts the original finish it has an excellent colour and patination to the timber. The turned elms drawer knobs are original to the chest. The chest features the original working locks and a working key. The pine backboards are original also. The drawer linings are original. The brushing slide green baize has recently been replaced. All drawers work and close flush to the frame. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
