Tall Antique Vitrine Cabinet, English, Bookcase
This is a tall antique vitrine cabinet. An English, ebonised mahogany display case or glazed bookcase, dating to the Regency period, circa 1830.
Beautifully appointed cabinet of superb craftsmanship
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Ebonised mahogany stocks with deep black tonality
Accentuated with contrasting gilt detailing throughout
Glazed doors provide a clear, bright view of the four shelf interior
Dressed with gilt escutcheons, the right hand door offers an inset working lock — key present
Ormolu beaded trim adds further interest to the cabinet door edge
Each shelf can be arranged at adjustable heights as required
Unmarked as such, the quality craftsmanship a match for Gillow & Co
Striking gilt corbel frame the cabinet with pinstripe decor running vertically between
Ormolu trim with chased broad leaf pattern to the edge of the upper and lower aprons
Raised upon a quartet of bun feet with circular cups, the front pair graced with a gilt finish
This is a dashing antique vitrine cabinet, with dark tonality and eye-catching gilt decoration. Ideal as an ornate bookcase or display case, the craftsmanship is on par with the esteemed Gillows of Lancaster. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed, polished and ready to display.
