Beautiful early 19th.c. Swedish marriage chest retaining the original paintwork dated 1818. Large pine chest with a domed top and tapering sides. Original painted decoration with flowers and plant forms in red and white against the traditional pale blue background. The front also features the initial MPS and the date 1818. Good solid condition, with a repair to the front right hand corner of the base. Otherwise untouched with the original iron strap hinges, corner bindings and large wrought iron handles. Also retaining the original key, though the lock is no longer working.
