A superb example of an original and complete 1930's / Art Deco era, frosted glass suspension ceiling light, or plafonnier.
This unusual piece has been molded in deep relief with a wonderful design of various ornamental and tropical fish swimming among water weeds. The surface is lightly frosted, giving way to finely polished highlights.
It is suspended by three square-section steel rods that locate into a stunning, nickel plated ceiling rose, which again is beautifully fashioned in the high Art Deco style.
The bulb holder is present, with cabling located internally and up through one of the hollow hanging rods, making for a clean and uncluttered looking light.
The geometric design of the rose is echoed in the molded details in the glass - that of rock-work and a central starfish. The screws that bind the bars to the shade are also headed with lovely nickel-plated rock-work 'nuggets', as shown.
Unsigned but of very high quality recalling the factories of Verlys, Degue and Lalique.

The drop, from rose to base of shade, approx 78 cms.
