This superb writing table, untouched by the restorer, is undoubtedly by Gillows of Lancaster. The quality of the timber and the quality of the carving makes this table stand head and shoulders above most others.

The table stands on four original brass castors, slightly countersunk, beneath the four paw feet. These countersunk casters are an attribute frequently used by Gillows. The carving is very finely detailed as can be seen in the photographs. The drawer benefits from being fitted with lidded compartments. The measurements are:
