A Japanese Meiji period scholars box or desk from the late 19th.C. The exterior having parquetry decoration with metal handles and hinges. The box consists of a lid that when removed sits between the 2 boxes to form a desk which Japanese scholars would kneel at to work. The two separate sections with four drawers to one, the other with a door with two drawers within and a drawer below. The whole in very good original condition. Dimensions :- Height…10.75’’/ 27.5cm.
