Condition Report
The bureau is in good working order. The inlay on the fall is original. Some of the inlay on the front has been added during Victorian times. The brass swan neck handles are very old replacements. The bureau has been converted to a knee-hole desk a long time ago. There is a working key to the fall and drawers. There is a replacement working lock key to the internal door behind the fall. The leather is in good condition. The left corner of the fall is slightly raised but is firm – some movement is to be expected in bureaus of this age. Free of worm, solid in joint and ready to use. Please remember that this item is over 200 years old so there will always be some minor wear.
