Georgian Walnut And Fruitwood Bureau Desk Writing
Antique Georgian late 18C or early 19C walnut and fruitwood bureau.
This is a lovely bureau, that is full of age, charm and character.
Solid with no loose joints and all of the fruitwood lined (softwood bottoms, some of which have been replaced) drawers slide freely.
Great age and patina (not over restored).
Loads of secret compartments.
Later handles etc., but all are in keeping and look right.
Loads of historic woodworm holes (the norm for period walnut), believed extinct, that we have treated for good measure.
Overall maximum dimensions 100cmW x 52cmD x 102.5cmH (76cmH writing surface).
Historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, repairs and alterations, as is always the way and to be expected with genuine antique furniture. No keys and the locks are untested. Some hand figuring to the fall and drawer fronts. There are some stains inside the drawers as is to be expected. There is a piece of one handle back plate missing (see photos). One small pigeon hole drawer may be missing.
