George 111 Oak Mahogany Corner Cupboard

This is a very clean and opulent period hanging corner cabinet. It is Georgian, dating to the reign of George III around 1790. The corner cupboard is elegantly simple in design like all Georgian antique furniture but the quality of this particular corner cupboard is good even by Georgian standards. The corner cupboard has a shaped mahogany cornice above. The mahogany glows. The two curved doors are made in oak and this is cross banded in mahogany. The colour is wonderful. It retains its original brass hinges and the most intricate brass escutcheons I have seen. The escutcheons incorporate four masks. I wonder if the one on the top right is Wellington? The cupboard retains its original lock with key.
The interior is beautifully fitted. Look at those three sweet mahogany drawers. It is fitted with shelves and even these are wonderfully shaped. This is a very good cupboard.
I love period hanging corner cupboards. They are so inexpensive at the moment and they make wonderful drinks cabinets.
The condition of this period corner cupboard is good, with no sign of damage or worm. This is a particularly elegant cupboard. The oak and mahogany are well polished and rich.
The Georgian corner cabinet is 38.5 inches high and 27.5 inches wide and it runs along the wall to the point of the corner for 17.5 inches on both sides.
