Early 19th Century mahogany secretaire chest of fantastic quality, the moulded edge top above the secretaire drawer which pulls out to reveal a green leather writing surface decorated with blind and gold tooling, with nineteen drawers of various sizes veneered in satinwood with ebony inlay, the central bottom drawer pulls out to reveal a secret compartment, the bottom section having a pair of doors with inlaid oval panels, opening to reveal a pair of sliding trays, the back of the chest has a four panel back which means it can be free standing, standing on bracket feet. Circa 1820.
