Burr Walnut Victorian Writing Sewing Table c.1860
This is a superb quality antique burr walnut Victorian games & sewing table, circa 1860.

This is a superb quality antique burr walnut Victorian games & sewing table, circa 1860.
The tabletop is inlaid with floral satinwood inlay likewise, the sides, back and front of the sewing box are also. The tabletop when opened reveals an adjustable green leather and gold-tool writing slope. Along the sides of the interior are boxwood pigeonholes and other boxwood sections to store letters and documents along with sewing kits. Below the writing slope is another compartmentalized hand dovetailed boxwood drawers to store additional sewing materials. The lid features the original working lock and key. Beneath the sewing table drawer there is a pull out sewing box drawer constructed with boxwood and is in original condition. The front and the back of the box are also inlaid with floral satinwood. The table stands on solid turned walnut supports terminating in splayed legs with the original mug castors. A turned stretcher connects bots sets of legs for extra stability.
This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition. This item would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own such a lovely antique item.
Condition Report
The sewing and games table is original, free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use. The key and lock are original and in working condition the hinges to the table are in good condition. The table boasts a fantastic colour and patination. Old use marks to the leading edges. There is some minor wear to the tabletop where the veneer meets in the centre (see photos). All in all, this item is in excellent condition considering its age.
