Antique Vienna Walnut Double Weight Wall Clock

A fine quality Vienna regulator wall clock in a walnut veneered case with excellent colour and richly figured grain. The architectural case is elegant and well proportioned with ebonised columns turned finials and a shaped pediment giving it strong decorative presence.
The enamel dial with Roman numerals is crisp and refined retaining its original pierced hands and subsidiary seconds dial. The twin weight driven movement is typical of Vienna regulators built for precision timekeeping with the long pendulum and polished brass weights creating a striking visual balance within the case.
Vienna regulators were regarded as some of the most accurate domestic clocks of the 19th century often used in grand homes, offices and workshops where reliable timekeeping was essential. Today they are equally valued for their tall elegant proportions and the movement they bring to an interior making them a favourite with designers looking to add height, warmth and authenticity to a space.
This is a particularly clean example with strong colour and contrast to the case making it ideal for both traditional and contemporary interiors. This clock is accompanied by a receipt from The Clock House dated 1992 describing it as a Vienna regulator which provides a useful point of provenance.
Condition Report:
In good working order. The case is in good antique condition with light age related wear. Minor marks to the veneer as expected. Dial is clean and readable. Movement running well.
Dimensions:
Height: 116 cm (45.67 in)
Width: 39 cm (15.35 in)
Depth: 16 cm (6.30 in)
Date: circa 1880
Origin: Austrian
Condition / Servicing Note:
Please note that antique clocks are complex and sensitive mechanical objects. While some clocks may be running at the time of listing we cannot guarantee ongoing performance without a full inspection and testing period by our specialist horologist. Where inspection, testing, or servicing is required this process can take between 2–12 weeks depending on the clock, the work needed, and current workload. This careful approach helps ensure the clock is properly assessed rather than rushed.
Clock Warranty
All clocks purchased from London City Antiques are supplied with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
This warranty covers mechanical faults and failures arising from normal use. It does not extend to damage resulting from improper handling, unauthorised tampering, accidental or physical damage, environmental factors (including humidity, temperature fluctuations, or exposure to direct sunlight), or misuse.
Should a clock develop a genuine fault within the warranty period that meets the above conditions, we will, at our discretion and at no cost to you, arrange for the repair or replacement of any defective parts. All remedial work will be carried out by a fully qualified and experienced horologist.
In the unlikely event that a fault cannot be satisfactorily resolved, a full refund will be offered.
