We present for consideration, this splendid early Victorian, Tamworth made, 12” fusee dial wall timepiece, by regional watch and clockmaker, William Lakin, of 35 Market Street, Tamworth, Staffordshire, (from where this clock would have been made).

Born in Market Bosworth, Leicestershire, c1801, Lakin was a horologist with immense expertise, having spent a long and prosperous life making clocks, which lasted into at least his 72nd year! He eventually passed away at Tamworth in 1878, aged 77.

• A solid narrow turned Mahogany roundhead face, that sits over its boxed cabinet.
• Hinged inspection door located to the side of the box.
• Operable lockable regulator door located at the bottom of the box.
• Convex metal dial, with black Roman numerals and Lakin’s details.
• Retains its original pair of blued Breguet Empire hands, secured with a pinned collet.
• Original convex glaze mounted in a brass bezel.
• Quality 8-day single fusee chain driven movement set between shouldered plates and turned pillars.
• Comes with its 65mm diameter brass pendulum bob, with door key and a brass winding key.
