Antique Oak Jacobean Worcestershire Coffer (c1580)
This is a superb quality oak Jacobean mid-sized antique oak three panel coffer believed to have originated from the county of Worcestershire, circa 1580 – 1620.

This is a superb quality early 17th Century (period Elizabethan / Jacobean, circa 1580 - 1620) oak coffer with good proportions believed to have originated from the county of Worcestershire. The coffer features the original carved gothic motifs to the front panels along with the original reeded and bobble carved styles. The top features three square insert panels with reeded edges. The sides are paneled and the lid is attached with its original iron loop hinges. The coffer features original hand and peg construction. The coffer features the original working lock and key. The back of the coffer features a rough hewn paneled back. The coffer stands on its original long styles (a sign of an early coffer) and features a rich deep colour / patination. This is an important oak coffer having been around in the days of Queen Elizabeth 1st, Sir Francis drake and Sir Walter Raleigh which is of excellent proportions. The coffer would be ideal as a storage box in a bedroom in front of a bed.
This item would look great in a variety of rooms from the hall way, to the living room or bedroom in front of a bed. It has a beautiful deep rich oak patina which has been generated by the centuries of cleaning and care it has received.

We will collect the item using our specialist Furniture Delivery Company to avoid any damage. We will not accept returns via a courier service due to experience of damaged items in transit. This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.

The coffer features the original styles, original iron loop hinges, original lock, and the original floor and back. The coffer features the original lock and it also has a working key. There is a small hairline split to the top left panel and the right hand side panel. The floor of the coffer has been tightened and secured from the underside to ensure the base is solid in joint. It is free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use. Considering the age of this coffer, it is in very good condition. The coffer has a superb colour/patination.
