Antique French Oak Armoire, c.1800
This is an antique French armoire dating to c.1800.
Beneath a modest crown moulding, magnificent profusely carved panels decorate this substantial armoire, decorated with stylised foliate detail in reciprocating geometric form. The doors feature triple field panels with the uppermost arched, resembling ecclesiastical stained glass windows in form.
Raised on squat cabriole legs with pinched toes, the waxed finish to the oak radiates in warm russet tones and is highlighted by the polished brass pin and barrel hinges and elaborate, pierced brass lock escutcheons.
Behind the doors, complete with working lock and key, the interior features removable shelves allowing removal for the addition of a hanging rail if required. Below a deep drawer offers further storage above the shaped skirt.
A stunning example in excellent antique condition, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
