Antique Adjustable Reading Table, English, Lectern
This is an antique adjustable reading table. An English, mahogany rotating lectern or recital stand, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Offering a multitude of adjustment and versatile for differing uses
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select stocks show fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Adjusts for height and angle - ideal for the arm chair or free-standing for public speaking
Generously sized top with articulated rests to each side, folding away beneath the platform
The top rotates through 90-degrees each way, from vertical to the horizontal plane
Toothed support arm adjusts for height, activated by a cast iron level mechanism
Maker's mark cast upon the mechanism for Carters, with an enamel plaque to the reverse of the rest
The label reads 'By Appointment to H.M. The King, Carters LTD, New Cavendish Street, London'
Distinctive shaped base riding upon castors, ideal for tucking beneath an armchair or bed
