This is an attractive antique oak coffer in lovely order dating from the late 18th century, circa 1780. The chest is in good original order with a good colour and patina and attractively carved fielded panels to the front. This is traditionally constructed with peg dowel jointing, its original hand forged hoop and ring wire hinges in good functioning order and the original oak back and base boards all intact. The chest is raised on traditional stile feet (small historic block repair to front left as shown in photo 6) and has good proportions measuring 110 cm by 50 cm by 59 cm high. This solid chest is in good sound order and is a really characterful period piece.
