A Fine Early 18th Century Carved Oak Coffer / Mule Chest

Measuring approximately 4 feet x 31"x 19 1/2" (width, height, depth )

A rare and very decorative period piece of good, manageable proportion.
Built during the reign of Queen Anne, the frieze decorated with S scrolls and bearing central date carving of 1710 and initial S W.

Raised on a good length of stile leg the well patinated plank top opening on blacksmith made iron hinges to reveal a good storage area fronted by 3 good fielded panels over two sturdy lower drawers.

A pleasing example with great medium oak patina throughout.
