A Late Elizabethan Oak Boarded Chest.

Circa 1600

I love this chest it is in totally original condition with its wire hinges and internal candle box and still retaining its full height ,the only item missing is its hasp .

Of six plank construction the sides with semi-circle cut outs and the front with scratch carved cross hatch side borders all in riven timber.

The colour and patina of a fresh conker .

Part of the bottom front edge has gone along the sap line of the wood but this only enhances the charm of this wonderful chest.

34cms Deep 13.5 (inches)
