WW1 1914-15 Star medal, Northumberland Fusiliers
WW1 1914-15 Star.
This medal was awarded to any member of the British forces, who served in any theatre of war between 5th August 1914 and 31st December 1915, except those who already qualified for the 1914 star.
The medal was never awared on its own ... recipients would also be awarded the British war medal and the Victory medal.
These three medals were affectionately known as Pip (1914-15 star), Squeak (British war medal) and Wilfred (Victory medal).
This medal was awarded to, and is correctly inscribed on the back, to 3271 Private G Gardham of the Northumberland Fusiliers. We do not have his War or Victory medals.
The medal is full size, and measures approximately 4.5 cm (1.75") by 5 cm (2").
The medal has a replacement ribbon.
