Mid 19th century Continental (probably French) Infantry officer's dress sword in steel 2 ring scabbard. Has owners initials and a date of 4th July 1856 engraved on the brass folding guard. Ribbed hardwood grip with ornately cast brass hilt. The hilt has a push button snap guard release. Double edged, tapering blade. Grip wire is missing and there is some rust staining to scabbard.

Approximately 101cm overall and blade 82.5cm.
