Late 15th C Quillon Dagger.
Bronze pommel and guard, steel blade, carved bone grip.
These daggers were also used as a personal cutlery knives.
Fine river found condition in the River Thames, Queenhithe, in 1961.
Professionally conserved in 1960s.
Totally stable. The bone handle has a long age crack through shrinkage of the bone over the centuries. The blade shows signs of use.
From an old collection.
30cm long. 195g. Listed items are usually available to view at the Red House Antiques Centre in York.
