An early 19thc. Derby cabinet cup c.1820-5 c#2
Description
A truly superb cabinet cup, elaborately painted with two reserves one containing a central vignette of fruit and foliage, the other a linear representation of various floral sprigs. Superb gilding, both to the inner rim and to the cobalt blue ground surrounding the two above-described vignettes. Bloor Derby mark to the base of the cup.
Please note that we are selling two other very similar cups in this exact same pattern.The principal variations are the paintings to the central scenes.
Condition
In superb antique condition. No apparent defects. Wear commensurate with age and use.

11cm handle to cup edge.
Provenance
Formerly part of the William Mowat-Thomson collection. An iconic figure in Scottish dance, Edinburgh-based William Mowat-Thomson was a teacher of dance, drama and yoga and a collector of the most wonderful array of art and antiques. From modest beginnings on Orkney, William achieved success in his working life and from a young age furnished his grand homes in his much-loved Georgian style.
