Yorkshire Oak Longcase Clock c.1800. George Savage
A fine quality longcase clock with 30 hour movement by George Savage of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Featuring a very attractive, original painted face decorated with roses and other flowers and foliage, with turned columns and brass mounts.
The case is of Oak and has a beautiful inlaid shell in the middle of the door and a round fan inlay on base section.
The door has the original working lock and key is also present.
The hood has a broken swan neck pediment and also unusually has the original glass from 200+ years ago still present.
Original pendulum and weight also present.
George Savage was born 1767 and worked in Huddersfield and emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1818, so this antique clock is pre 1818.
Keeps perfect time and chimes on the hour.
The underneath of the case shows sign of old damp damage with the wood being 'twisted' but this in our opinion proves it's age and originality.
The clock came into our shop from a family who had had it in their farm for at least 120 years and they believe it has been in the same family since it was made.
A very genuine and beautiful Yorkshire longcase clock that would grace any home.
FREE UK delivery and installation.
