A rare Vogue Vanities powder compact made in the 1940s with the most eye-catching high quality enamel lid adornment. The background is cream enamel and on this a hand painted bird of paradise - the most exquisite enamel blue bird with gilt highlights on her feathers, eyes and beak. Her golden nest just below her holds three speckled eggs and holding the nest safe are gorgeous vivid light and dark green branches with exotic cream, pale and dark pink blossoms.
An enchanting compact!
The interior is gilded and satinized giving a luxurious feel. The inner lid is signed " VOGUE Vanities TRADE MARK MADE IN ENGLAND ". The original signed puff, sifter and felt pouch are present and they are in good condition. The powder well and underside of the inner lid are satinized too and it is evident that great care take was taken in producing this accessory. All clasps and hinges work perfectly and the compact is in very good condition. The base is beautiful too - it is both gilded and satinized too. The base has a small slight almost unnoticeable dimple which in no way detracts from this compact. Image four shows this is quite difficult to see.
The powder compact measures 3 " and weighs 9.23 grams.
