William and Mary Walnut and Oak Chest c. 1690
Exceptional William and Mary Walnut and Oak Chest on Stand c. 1690
A truly wonderful William and Mary Oak and Walnut chest on original stand, completely original including brass drop handles, engraved back plates, locks and escutcheons.
Of a small size, perfectly proportioned, and with a fantastic colour and patina. The walnut inlays and crossbanding to the drawer fronts are particularly lovely.
Made by a skilled cabinet maker in around 1690 and untouched by time.
Because it was so well made, carefully looked after, and always ideally suited to its purpose, it has remained in original condition and it is no small miracle that it is still here today exactly as it was 325 years ago.
Strongly recommended, a beautiful, original and superbly proportioned little chest on stand.
Dimensions are:
Height: 41.5"
Width: 41"
Depth: 23.25"
Height of stand: 15.25"
Top drawer internal depth: 4.75"
Second drawer down internal depth: 6.75"
Third drawer down internal depth: 8.25"
