Vintage Solid Oak Carved Monk's Bench
This attractive monk's bench dates from the first half of the twentieth but is older in style. It has a top which can be lifted up to form the back of the bench. The arm rests at each side have column supports. The seat of the bench also lifts up to reveal a storage compartment. The bench has attractive carving to the front and to both sides of the lift-up top. A nice piece, of good quality. There are no maker's marks.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some wood shrinkage splitting to the sides.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Closed - 79cm high, 106.5cm long, 52cm wide (to maximums)
