Vintage enamel Stratton 'Princess' compact
This compact is an early "Princess" manufactured before 1955. The lid is decorated with good quality enamel - very beautiful. The enamel is excellent with no loss of colour or enamel.
The indented edges of the lid are beautifully engraved & the whole compact is in superb condition.
The compact is heavy which is a good sign - the weight of the enamel & good quality brass.
A lovely old Stratton " Princess " in excellent working condition. The delightful lid lifts to reveal
an excellent bevelled mirror surrounded by a gold tone bezel. The bezel is marked " MADE IN ENGLAND ". The inner lid is decorated with parallel lines & the " Compact-in-Hand " logo.
This logo refers to an ingenious device that Stratton created to save ladies nails from breaking when they opened the inner lid. When the lid is tilted back the inner lid pops open.
The original sifter is in place & it is in good condition. The base is decorated with vertical engine turned lines. Measures almost 3 " & weighs 94.7 grams.
