This convertible powder compact is suitable for modern pressed / solid face powders.
A 1960s enamel Stratton 'Convertible' powder compact & automatic pop-up lipstick holder set with lipstick. The compact has a blue enamel lid with a diamond cut gilt star. There isn't any enamel loss & the enamel is lustrous cobalt blue. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The compact is clean & gleaming. The mirror gives a good accurate reflection. The mirror has a little haze & this does not prevent it from being a useful hand mirror compact. The base is decorated with the all over star design & signed "Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND".
The matching Stratton lipstick holder too has an all gilt finish with cobalt blue enamel & the incised gilt star motif. There isn't any enamel loss. Open up the lipstick holder & the lipstick pops out of the end just far enough for you to pull out the lipstick. The holder has an oval shaped mirror which gives an accurate reflection. The lipstick holder has a very pretty gilt lid decorated with the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo & is signed 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND'. The lipstick contained within this holder is Max Factor 'FIREBRAND' 43. The diameter of this lipstick is 15 mm.
This is a good quality & well made set, however they have both been used & there are slight signs of use on the enamel none of which would spoil the enjoyment of these accessories. This is reflected in the price.
The 'Convertible' compact measures 3" & weighs 96.3 grams.
The automatic pop-up lipstick holder measures just over 2 1/4" & weighs 42.3 grams.
