Victorian Oak Compactum Wardrobe

1 of 6
This attractive antique compactum wardrobe dates from the second half of the nineteenth century. It is made from solid oak. The wardrobe consists of a hanging section at either side with a shelf above. Each hanging section has a front to back rail and an assortment of hooks inside. In the centre is a bevel-edged mirrored door which opens to reveal four drawers over three pull-out wooden slides. The wardrobe is supported on a plinth base. The doors retain what we believe to be their original brass wardrobe handles and locks, and one key is present which works all the locks. The hanging sections are lined around the sides with fabric, and the outer sides of the wardrobe have a painted faux grain finish that matches the door panels. Please note that the wardrobe can be dismantled for ease of transportation.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition but does have some quite heavy wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, scratching, knocking and wear to the woodwork and finish as might be expected, which is heavy in places, and the piece is overall faded and has some staining. The catches of the wardrobe doors at either side do not work. There is some minor wood loss in places. The fabric lining of the hanging sections is discoloured, grubby and worn with some fraying and tearing. There is some tape damage to the painted faux grain finish of the sides. There are some screws missing in places.
The approx measurements are as follows:
210cm high, 196cm wide, 62.5cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
