A beautiful antique, Victorian era mourning locket.

It is a large, heavy oval locket in black enamel and gilt silver, the front is set with a multitude of creamy seed pearls arranged in the letters IMO in fancy script, for In Memory Of.

The black enamel representing death and the creamy seed pearls representing tears, this is a highly sentimental piece.

It has a large enamelled integral bale and comes on a later vintage sterling silver rope chain necklace.

The locket opens to reveal a glass panelled side over silk and the other side is gilded.

The locket has a import mark for silver and tests as sterling silver.

Victorian era c1890s

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some signs of use and wear, surface wear and patina, some loss of gilding and a tiny nick to the top of the enamel.

2." length with bale
1.25" width
18" chain length
