A Early Victorian Mahogany Reading Table by Alfred Carter, London. A marvel of furniture, this reading table can extend in height, the table top can slide horizontally, and it has a tilting feature allowing it to tilt the top either forwards or backwards. Furthermore it includes two adjustable reading stands, with detachable mahogany books ledges allowing the table to have a clear top for everyday use. Stamped to the central column with Alfred Carter, 47 Holborn Viaduct, London. This table includes a key and lock to the storage compartment under the bookstands.
