Victorian Mahogany Canterbury / Magazine / Music Rack
Superb mahogany Canterbury/ magazine/ music rack from the Victorian era. The four curved dividers are united with brass and supported by a beautifully carved pedestal standing on a shaped platform base with scroll feet. The mahogany is a gorgeous rich colour with amazing patina it is in excellent condition with only age related marks. This is a decorative portable piece of furniture that will make a useful addition to any home
The 19th Century Victorian and later Edwardian love affair with the piano in the home gave rise to the popularity of the Canterbury.
The Canterbury was first introduced in the late 18th Century and got its name from the first commissioned piece by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
