Victorian mahogany & inlaid music cabinet by Keeble

A super quality Adams style late Victorian mahogany and inlaid music or side cabinet by Francis Henry Keeble of London. The rectangular top with a high three-quarter gallery and slot for standing music, with boxwood stringing to the moulding below and further stringing to the front and sides, the fielded panel door centred by an inlaid urn motif and opening to reveal five adjustable shelves, all standing on a plinth base with low block feet.
In good condition and with maker’s stamp to the reverse ‘Keeble / Cabinet Maker & Upholsterer / 9 Rupert St/ Haymarket’. Would make a lovely side cabinet and the cupboard space would be equally good for collectors, hobby materials or as a bookcase.
The overall dimensions approximately
Width - 21.75in (55cm)
Depth - 12.75in (32.5cm)
Height - 44.5in (113cm)
Shelf sizes - 18in wide x 10in deep (46cm x 25.5cm)
Francis Henry Keeble (1840-1923) was recorded as a cabinet maker living at 6 Bateman’s Buildings, Soho in 1861 and then as cabinet maker master at 9 Rupert Street, Soho in 1871 where the business remained until at least 1895.
