Victorian Mahogany 10+ Seat Dining Table

1 of 6
Victorian mahogany 10+ seat dining table
This Victorian mahogany 10+ seat dining table was made in one of the best workshops in the Victorian period. I attribute this to being made by James Phillips & sons of Union Street Bristol.
In 1865-75 when this dining table was made, Bristol was a vibrant city with its port importing from around the world the best materials available, the busy city created much wealth and so top furnishers like Phillips & sons flourished selling to the many professional and business people who were flocking to the area.
The Victorian mahogany 10+ seat dining table winds open on a Joseph Fitter patent telescopic action.
The table extends allowing you to set whatever combination of leaves you require.
You can use this dining table using just one, two or three leaves depending on your requirements.
The mahogany dining table with its bowed shaped ends, stands on 4 turned solid mahogany legs with the original brass cup castors and porcelain rolling castors.
The legs screw in and so this makes this table much easier to move and get into your house.
Tables of this style and quality are not freely available.
We have restored this dining table and re-polished it by hand in the traditional manner.
Imagine sitting and entertaining at this beautiful dining table. Your conversation might turn to how this table was delivered to a home before the advert of the combustion engine. It would have been loaded onto an enclosed wagon pulled by horses before being driven through the bustling port city to a fine home in the suburbs.
